Found in Minas Gerais state of Brazil on rocky outcrops at elevations around 1400 meters as a mini-miniature [without inflorescence] sized, cool growing, caespitose lithiophyte with a inconspicuous rhizome giving rise to clear green, obclavate pseudobulbs enveloped by green, papery, deciduous sheaths and carrying a single, erect, coriaceous, dark green, elliptic, canoe-shaped, dorsal smooth, apiculate, conduplicate below into the base leaf that blooms in the spring on a terminal, arising through a transluscent, linear-truncated, oblique spathe, cylindrical, 6 to 8" [15 to 20 cm] long, rachis green with purple pigmentation, in the upper third, simultaneously 3 to 6 flowered inflorescence with triangular, acute floral bracts and carrying pale yellow flowers.
