Found in Imbabura province of Ecuador at elevations around 800 meters as a miniature sized, warm growing epiphyte with an erect, terete stem enveloped by 12, papery, shortly pubescent, trumpet-shaped lepanthiform sheaths with an ovate dilated ostia carrying an nodding, coriaceous, upper surface granular, narrowly ovate, acute, apiculate, obtuse and abruptly contracted below into the shortly petiolate base leaf that blooms at most any time of the year on an erect, arising on the topside of the leaf, peduncle terete, .232 to .293" [5.8 to 7.3 mm] long, enveloped by membraneous, ovate, acute, truncate bracts, rachis terete, .02 to .068" [.5 to 1.7 mm] long, congested, successively 1, to 9 flowered inflorescence carrying resupinate flowers.
"Similar to Lepanthes gargoyla but distinguished by the granular texture of the upper side of the leaf vs shortly pubescent, the oblong, obtuse upper lobe of the petal vs obliquely oblong-truncate, obtusely angled or dolabraform, and the digitate rostellup versus absent. Also similar to Lepanthes tomentosa but but distinguished by the granular texture of the upper side of the leaf vs shortly pubescent to glabrous, the entire apex of the lip versus terminating in a trilobed appendix, and the digitate rostellum versus absent."
