Found in Antioquia department of Colombia at elevations above 1830 to 2000 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool growing epiphyte with erect, slender ramicauls enveloped by 3 to 8, minutely ciliate, lepanthiform sheaths and carrying a single, more or less spreading, purple beneath, coriaceous, ovate, acute, rounded and abruptly contracted below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the later spring on a filiform, very congested, secund, .36 to .48" [.9 to 1.2 cm] long including the .16 to .26" [4 to 7 mm] long peduncle, successively few flowered inflorescence arising on top of the leaf.
The appendix of this small species is a microscopic, triangular process in the deep sinus of the lip. The blades of the lip are microscopically pubescent and the petals are glabrous." Luer 1984
