Found in the Dominican Republic near the border with Haiti at elevations of 1400 to 1600 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool growing, caesptiose epiphyte with slender, erect, ramicauls enveloped by 5 to 7, dilated, oblique, microscopically echinate lepanthiform sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, ovate to elliptic-lanceolate, abruptly acute, margins denticulate, apically bidentate, abruptly rounded below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring on a terminal, peduncle .4" [1 cm] long, rachis .32 to .48" [.8 to 1.2 cm] long, distichous, congested, successively single, many flowered inflorescence with carinate, infundibuliform, the carinae sparsely ciliate, acute apically, shorter than the pedicel floral bracts and carrying flowers with straw colored sepals, orange rimmed petals with the centers reddish and a red lip.
Distinguished by the flat, triangular sepals, the short petals and the lip that is notably convex and is almost parellel to the column.
