Common Name or Meaning The Beautiful Yellow Lepanthes

Found in Zamora Chinchipe province of Ecuador growing on slender branches, at elevations around 1500 meters as a miniature to small sized, cool growing epiphyte with a terete, erect stem enveloped by 13, papery, tubular, lepanthiform sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, ovate, petiolate base leaf that blooms on an erect, beneath the leaf, peduncle terete, .118 to 1.36" [29.7 to 34 mm] long, rachis short, racemose, slowly successively single, few flowered inflorescence with papery, tubular floral bracts.
"The new species is similar to Lepanthes setifera , but differs in having yellow sepals (vs. translucent greenish white), acute sepal apices (vs. slightly acuminate), a triangular upper petal lobe (vs. oblong), and a convex lip lamina lacking long trichomes (vs. concave with long trichomes)."
