Common Name The Hairy Sepal Lepanthes
Flower Size .2" [5 mm]
Found in Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia and Venezuela at elevations of 1400 to 2900 meters as a miniature sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte with erect ramicauls enveloped completely by 3 to 9, infundibuliform, acuminate, longitudinally nerved, muricate and papilose lepanthiform sheaths and carrying a single, apical erect, coriaceous, broadly lanceolate, ovate-lanceolate, to elliptic, minutely tridenticulate apically, shortly petiolate below into the base leaf that blooms in the summer on an erect, thin, distichous, racemose, subdensely successively single to 12 flowered inflorescence.
CAUTION This orchid has commonly been sold as Lepanthes jayandella Luer 1996 but if you look at the type drawing and Luer's comments it is definitely not that species!!!!
