Found in Cañar province of Ecuador at elevations around 750 meters as a mini-miniature sized, warm-growing epiphyte with erect, enveloped by 6, papery, lepanthiform sheaths with ovate, dilated, spiculate ostium, spiculate along the costae, terete stems bearing a single, erect, apical, coriaceious, suborbicular, emarginate, apiculate, entire, abruptly contracted into the obtuse, shortly petiolate base leaf that blooms at any time of the year on an erect, peduncle terete, .152" [3.8 mm] long, rachis terete, .044" [1.1 mm] long, congested, slowly, successively 1 to 2, to 7 flowered inflorescence arising from the underside of the leaf.
"Similar to Lepanthes aurita but the new speies differs in its lower elevation of occurence [750 vs 2000 to 2750 meters], longer stems [23.8 mm vs 15 to 20 mm] long, more lepanthiform sheaths per stem [6 vs 3 to 4], elliptical dorsal sepal [vs ovate, apiculate [vs acute], transluscent yellow irregularily marked and suffused with rose [vs yellow-orange], the petals lacking a minute apiculum [vs present], the lip lobes not incurved [vs incurved] and lacking an obvious appendix [vs present]."
