Common Name or Meaning The Hedgehog-Like Lepanthes

Found in Costa Rica at elevations of 1000 to 2000 meters as a mini-miniature sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with erect ramicauls enveloped completely by 6 to 10 lepanthiform sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, narrowly lanceolate, acute, gradually narrowing below into the cuneate base leaf that blooms in winter and spring on a 1/2" [1.25 cm] long, successively few, several flowered inflorescence held behind the leaf.
"Distinguished by the long-ciliate lepanthiform sheaths as well as long--ciliate floral bracts. The congested, distichous raceme is shorter than the leaf, the sepals are broadly ovte and subacute, the upper lobes of the petals are broadly cuneate, overlapping above the column and lip, the ovate blades of the lip are smaller than the column and the body is broad with a protuberant, oblong, pedunculate, pubescent appendix."
