Found in Morona Santiago province of Ecuador at elevations around 1200 meters as a small sized, cool growing epiphyte with an erect, terete stem enveloped by 15 to 17, papery, pubescent, trumpet-shaped lepanthiform sheaths with an acuminate apex carrying a spreading, coriaceous, ovate to sub-cordate, acuminate, apiculate, obtuse and abruptly contracted below into the shortly petiolate base leaf that blooms at most any time of the year on an erect, arising on the underside of the leaf, peduncle terete, .08 to .128" [2 to 3.2 mm] long, enveloped by membraneous, ovate, acute, truncate bracts, rachis terete, .028 to .036" [.7 to .9 mm] long, congested, successively 1 to 2, to 10 flowered inflorescence.
" Most similar to Lepanthes auriculata but is distinguished by the shorter leaf tip [acuminate vs long-acuminate, the petals with a narrowly, transversely oblong lower lobe [vs narrowly cuneate with a subtruncate, rounded apex], and the shorter lip .036 versus .08"[.9 mm long vs 2 mm long] allowing the slightly shorter column [1.5 mm vs 2 mm] long] to protrude further beyond the lip by comparison. Also similar to Lepanthes megalostele but immediately distinguished vegetatively by the larger leaves 2.8 to 3.2" [7 to 8 cm] long, 1.72 to 1.96"[4.3 to 4.9 cm] wide vs .8 to 1.6" [2 to 4 cm] long, , .4 to .72" 1 to 1.8 cm] wide with an acuminate apex vs acute and florally by the auriculate petals versus transversly oblong, the lip with a well develkoped lobes versus poorly developed above the middle and an oblong appendix versus broadly triangular with an acute incurved apex. It is also similar to Lepanthes panope but is distinguished by the auriculate petals lacking an angular projection near the middle versus oblong-bilobed witha n angularprojection near the middle, and the oblong entire appendix versus flabellate and ciliate."
