Common Name Kuijt's Lepanthes [Canadian Botanist and codiscoverer of species current]

Flower Size .24" [6mm]

Found in Pinchincha province of Ecuador in cloud forests at elevations around 1650 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool growing epiphyte with slender, erect, ramicauls enveloped by 7 to 10, minutely ciliate lepanthiform sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, thinly coricaeous, suffused with purple beneath, ovate, acute, shortly acuminate, rounded and contracted below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring on a filiform, congested, 1.28" [3 cm] long, successively flowered inflorescence arising on top of the leaf with cilate floral bracts.

"Characterized by the red and yellow flowers with denticullate, shortly caudate sepals that are borne in short racemes on top of an ovate, shortly acuminate leaf. The upper lobes of the sepals are obliquely truncate with the outer corner elongated. The lobes of the lip are cuneate and spreading to either side of the column. The outer, truncate margin is thickened as rudimentary blades. The appendix is comparitvely large, ovoid and long-pubescent." Luer 1996
