Common Name Maldonado's Lepanthes [Susana Maldonado, Mexican collector of species current]

Found in Chiapas state of Mexico and Guatemala on the northern slope in montane rainforest at elevations around 1800 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool growing epiphyte with prostrate or erect ramicauls with 2 to 4, cilate margined, acuminate-mucronate lepanthiform sheaths carrying a single, apical, widely elliptic, rounded, tridenticulate apically, subpetiolate below into the base leaf that blooms in the summer through fall on a on the top of the leaf, peduncle filiform, three noded, with tubular, glabrous, membraneous, to .52" [1.3 cm] long, rachis dense, flexuous, distichous, to .24" [6 mm] long, successively single, to 6 flowered inflorescence with spaced, obliquely infundibuliform, cucullate, longly acuminate-caudate, membraneous, carinate, papillose-ciliate floral bracts and carrying resupinate flowers with dirty yellow, transluscent sepals with orange purple veins, orange petals densely difused with red and an orange-red vermillion lip.
