Common Name The El Mirador Lepanthes [An area in Ecuador where the species was discovered]

Found in Cundinamarca department of Colombia and Carchi province of Ecuador at elevations around 3300 to 3600 meters as a probable miniature sized, cold growing epiphyte with a slender, erect? ramicaul carrying a single, apical, erect?, coriaceous, elliptical, acute to lightly acuminate, cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring on a filiform, dense, distichous, 1.4" [3.5 cm] long, successively many flowered inflorescence arising on the back of the leaf.
"Distinguished by the narrowly elliptical leaf, a congested raceme borne behind the leaf, acute, shortly acuminate, denticulate sepals with the laterals shrotly connate, petals with a long-acuminate upper lobe and a very short, transversely obtuse lower lobe and a lip with oblong blades and an appendix witha bilobed segment. L tungurahuae is Distinguished from L mirador by the broader, acuminate leaf, deeply connate lateral sepals and an entire appendix." Luer 1996
