Found in Imbabura province of Ecuador at elevations around 800 meters as a miniature sized, warm growing epiphyte with an erect to descending, terete stem enveloped by 9 to 13, papery, shortly pubescent, trumpet-shaped lepanthiform sheaths with an ovate, dilated ostia carrying a nodding, coriaceous, upper surface pubescent, narrowly ovate, acute, acuminate, apiculate, obtuse and abruptly contracted below into the shortly petiolate base leaf that blooms at most any time of the year on an erect, arising on the topside of the leaf, peduncle terete, .48" [1.2 cm] long, enveloped by membraneous, ovate, acute, truncate bracts, rachis terete, .052 to .056" [1.3 to 1.4 mm] long, congested, successively 1, to 11 flowered inflorescence carrying resupinate flowers.
"Similar to Lepanthes glabella but distinguished by the pubescent leaves versus glabrous, the carinate ovary versussmooth, the narrowly semicircular petals versus bilobed and the short rostellum versus a pedunculated rostellum. Also similar to Lepanthes pubescens but distinguished by the carinate ovar versus ciliate along the ribs, the narrowly semicircular petals versus transversely oblong, the truncate appendix versus obscurely trilobed at the apex anbd the short rostellum versus absent. It has been confused with Lepanthes melpomene but it occurs at higher elevations [2200 to 2700 meters] ans can be distinguished by the pubescxent leaves versusglabrous, the carinate ovary versussmooth, the narrowly semicirculare petals varsus transversely bilobed and the truncate appendix versus hastate.
