Found in Oaxaca and Chiapas states of Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador and Venezuela at elevations of 1450 meters to 1650 meters as a mini-miniature sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with erect stems enveloped by 2 to 5 lepanthiform sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, widely ovate, elliptic to suborbiculate, acute to subacute, tridenticulate, green above, purple beneath, coriaceous leaf that blooms in the fall on 1 to 5, arising on the back of the leaf, .35 to .6" [8 to 16 mm] long, successively single, to 20 flowered, distichous, very congested inflorescence.
" This species is distinguished by the small plants with suborbicular, widely ovate to elliptical leaf, the infloresccnce shorter than the leaf, the petals disproportionally large in comparison to the sepals, the laminae of the lip linear-lanceolate to oblong-elliptical, parallel and in contact or slightly separated and a conical, pilose appendix.
