Common Name The Juruene River Ligeophila [A river in Amazonas Brazil]
Flower Size .2" [5 mm]
Found in Colombia, Venezuela, Surinam, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru Bolivia and Argentina at elevations of 700 to 1200 meters as a just small to medium sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial with 3 to 5, lanceolate, acuminate, thin, petiolate base leaves that blooms in the fall and winter on a terminal, 4 to 5.6" [10 to 14 cm] long, rachis .8 to 1.6" [2 to 4 cm] long, 6 to 15 flowered inflorescence with ovate-lanceolate floral bracts.
CAUTION!! This species and M stigmatoptera have been confused for years but the references for M stigmatoptera have the midlobes of the lip as tendrils instead of wide lobes and there is no isthmus at the base of the lip. It seems that M juruensis is the more common species as I can find no photos of M stigmatoptera.
