Common Name The Leafless Liparis

Flower Size .6" [1.5 cm]

Found in Boyaca department of Colombia, Azuay province of Ecuador and Cajamarca departemnt of northwestern Peru in cold montane cloud forests in loose mosses at elevations of 2600 to 3300 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cold growing, saprophytic terrestrial with a subglobose pseudobulb enveloped by a basal, foliaceous, green sheath that blooms in the summer on racemose, erect, 3.12" [7.8 cm] long overall, peduncle, slender, 1.6" [4 cm] long, rachis weakly flexuous, distichous, 1.52" [3.8 cm] long, successively 1 to 2, to 6 flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, acute, green, longer than the ovary floral bracts and carrying widely opening, resupinate, non fragrant flowers.

Unique in the genus in its leafless habit. It has been rarely collected and is quite disjunctly distributed.
