Found in New Guinea in hill forests at elvations around 700 meters as a small sized, warm growing epiphyte with a creeping, elongated rhizome enveloped by tubular, acuminate, keeled, the upper sheaths enveloping the very small, .08 to 1" [2 to 2.5 cm] between each, ovate pseudobulb carrying a single, articulated, linear, at the apex conduplicate, acute, underneath when dried with c. 5 main nerves, papyraceous, sheath tubular, compressed, with sharp margins, at the base somewhat narrowed and conduplicate, petiole-shaped, base leaf that blooms in the spring on a distichous, peduncle two-winged-ancipitous, 7.6 to 9.8" [19 to 24.5 cm] long, rachis compressed, more than 2.6" [6.5 cm] long, at the apex successively single, densely many-flowered inflorescence with distichous, patent, conduplicate-boat-shaped, slightly incurved, strongly keeled, when not flattened lanceolate, acute floral bracts and producing orange flowers for a long time.
