Found in the Andaman Islands, Nicobar Islands, Thailand, Malaysia, Sumatra, Java, Borneo, Papua and New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, the Philippines, New Caledonia, Fiji, Samoa, Tonga and Vanuatu on rocks, trees and sandy soils from the lowlands to 2600 meters as a small sized, hot to cold growing epiphyte and litho-terrestrial with a creeping rhizome carrying ovoid pseudobulbs carrying 2 apical, widest at the top, acute leaves that gradually narrow to a broad channeled petiole that blooms on an erect, 10 to 14" [25 to 35 cm] long, many flowered inflorescence arising on younger pseudobulbs.
