Common Name Elmer's Liparis [Elmer Merrill American Botanist and Orchid Collector in the Philippines late 1800 to early 1900's]

Flower Size

Found only in the Philippines at elevations of 260 to 2300 meters as a small sized, hot to cool growing epiphyte with pear-shaped pseudobulbs enveloped by triangular-lanceolate bracts and carrying narrowy oblong leaves that blooms on a flattened, winged, many successively inflorescence.

CAUTION I am absolutely sure that this is the correct photo for this species and it belongs in the section Distichae, not Elatae. If you have a Liparis elmeri that has a loosely several to many flowered inflorescence in the section elatae, then name of your orchid is Liparis dumaguetensis.

Synonyms *Cestichis elmeri Ames 1905; Disticholiparis elmeri (Ames) Marg. & Szlach. 2004; Stichorkis elmeri (Ames) Naive & Ormerod 2019
