Common Name Janowski's Liparis [Original Collector of the type earlier 1900's]
Flower Size .4" [1 cm] long
Found in western New Guinea in lowland forests as a small sized, hot growing epiphyte with a creeping, dorsally compressed, with short internodes rhizome enveloped by tubular, acute, keeled, sheaths and giving rise to very small, .44 to .72" [1.1 to 1.8 cm] between each, dorsally compressed, obliquely ovate, carnose pseudobulb carrying a single, linear, acute, long apiculate, keeled, above on either side, convex, papyraceous sheath conduplicate base leaf that blooms in the winter on an erect, peduncle ancipitous, 6.4 to 10.8" [16 to 27 cm] long, rachis laterally compressed, up to 2.8" [7 cm] long, in the apical part, successively single, densely many-flowered inflorescence with distichous, patent, somewhat clasping the rachis, conduplicate, strongly keeled, acute, dorsally slightly curved floral bracts and carrying yellow flowers.
