Common Name The Madre Liparis [refers to the Sierra Madre Occidental mountain Range where the species occurs]

Found in northwestern Mexico in the Sierra Madre Occidental range in open pine forests at elevations of 2000 to 2500 meters as a miniature to small sized, cold growing terrestrial with conical-ovoid pseuodbulbs enveloped by fibrous sheaths andcarrying a single, erect, elliptic, obtuse, narrowing below into the elongate, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the summer on an erect, 4" [10 cm] long, subdensely many flowered inflorescence carrying tepals that are transluscent greenish suffused with purple-brown, the lip is green at the base and the rest is purple brown and the column is green.
