Found in southern Vietnam in primary humid broadleaved evergreen submontane forest at elevations of 1100 to 1200 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool growing lithophyte with close set, ovoid pseudobulbs enveloped by brownish papyraeceous sheaths and carrying a single, apical, glabrous, suborbiculate, acute to shortly acuminate, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the later summer on an erect, synanthous, peduncle narrowly winged, dark purple, 3.8" [9.5 cm] long, enveloped by bracts, rachis 3.2 to 3.6" [8 to 9 cm] long, dark red to the apex, 6.8 to 7.6" [17 to 19 cm] long overall, 19 to 20 flowered inflorescence with very small, greenish dark purple, triangular, obtuse floral bracts.
