Found in Dominican Republic, Cuba, Puerto Rico and Jamaica on damp shady banks among mosses at elevations of 1500 to 1600 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool growing terrestrial with a small spherical subterranean corm giving rise to 2, lower larger, roundish-ovate, cordate to oval leaves that blooms in the fall on an erect, terminal, angled, many flowered inflorescence
