Found in southern Guizhou province of China to Vietnam, and Taiwan in broad leaved forests at elevations of 500 to 1500 meters as a small to medium sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial with cylindric, stout, thick, fleshy, many noded stem carrying several, amplexicaul, not articulate, acuminate apically, contracted below into the petiolate base leaves that blooms in the spring on a distinctly ridged, 8 to 12" [20 to 30 cm] long, 5 to 15 flowered inflorescence with green, ovate floral bracts.
