Found in Java in primary forests on ridges in humus on the forest floor at elevations of 1400 to 1800 meters as a small sized, cool growing terrestrial with 2" [5 cm] between each ovate, flattened pseudobulbs carrying a single, arising from the base of the pseudobulb, ovate, cordate, acuminate, glossy dark green above, purple beneath, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring on a terminal, erect, deep purple, 6" [15 cm] long, 10 to 13 flowered inflorescence
