Found in Huanuco department of Peru at elevations of 1200 to 1500 meters as a small sized, cool growing epiphyte with stipitate, ellipsoid, strongly complanate, ancipitou pseudobulbs enveloped basally by a few imbricating, distichous, scarious sheaths the uppermost foliaceous, with deciduous, linear blades, and carrying a single, erect, linear, apical, subacuminate, conduplicate leaf that blooms in the winter on an erect, axillary, paniculate, subequal to the subtending foliaceous sheath with several, distant, ovate, acute bracts, few flowered, each branch single flowers inflorescence with prominent, amplexicaul, ovate, subacute floral bracts and carrying yellow flowers with 2 orange bands on the top of the callus, a yellow column and a pale yellow anther with a whitish tip.
This species differs from all others in the genus by its pseudobulb with articulate leaf sheaths instead of a stem carrying imbricating leaves with no pseudobulb.
