Found in El Cairo, Valle de Cauca department of Colombia at 2000 meters blooming in the later spring on an axillary few flowered inflorescence.

Very similar to M villenaorum but differs only in the plant as the leaves are wrinkled and pustulose in this species and smooth in M villenanorum, the flowers on the other hand are spot on to Christenson's TYPE drawing.
