Common Name The Orange Red Maxillaria

Found in Haiti and the Dominican Republic as a small sized, scraggly, cool growing epiphyte with a repent, apparently not branching rhizome enveloped by imbricating, appressed sheaths giving rise to remote, ovoid, somewhat compressed pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, conduplicate, coriaceous, articulate, oblong-ligulate, acute, cuneate below into the base leaf that blooms on a single flowered inflorescence emerging from congersted bracts and carrying orange-red, campanulate flowers.
