Found in Arizona, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras in deciduous forests at elevations around 1750 meters as a small sized, cool growing terrestrial with a globose pseudobulbous growth giving rise to a single, apical, erect, cordiform basally, ovate, obtuse to acute, conduplicate into the elongate, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the summer on an erect, 8" [20 cm] long, subumbellate several flowered inflorescence with the flowers all held at the apex
