Found in Minas Gerais state of Brazil as a small sized terrestrial with an inconspicuous rhizome giving rise to an ovoid pseudobulb enveloped by lanceolate sheaths and carrying leaves that blooms on a naked, shorter than the leaves, congested, many flowered inflorescence holding the flowers in an apical corymb.

The new orchid is similar to M cordilabia but differs in the leaves, the shorter flower stem, the loose flowers arranged in a corymb and a narrower, longer lip.
