Found in Haiti and the Dominican Republic as a small sized, erect, glabrous, cool growing terrestrial with fibrous roots with basally swollen, stems enveloped by 2 to 3, obtuse sheaths and carrying 2, thin, plicate, elliptic-ovate, acute, gradually narrowing below into the short petiolate base leaves that blooms on a terminal, erect, winged, sulcate, peduncle, rachis short, umbellate, several flowered inflorescence with triangular, acute floral bracts and carrying greenish-purple flowers. .
