Found in Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica and Panama in pluvial oak forests at elevations around 1600 to 2400 meters as a miniature sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with corms carrying a single, cordiform, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the later summer on a terminal, erect, peduncle .8 to 1.2" [2 to 3 cm] long, rachis 1.2 to 1.6" [3 to 4 cm] long, many flowered inflorescence carrying green, resupinate flowers.
