Common Name The Apparition Masdevallia [Refers to the large widely spread white flowers, like a ghost]

Flower Size 3.2 to 4" [8 to 10 cm]

Found in Antioquia department of Colombia on the western cordillera in dense cloud forests at elevations of 1800 to 2200 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte with erect, slender, blackish ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 3 dark, tubular sheaths carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, petiolate, elliptical, obtuse to rounded leaf with the base cuneate into the slender blackish petiole that blooms in the fall on a suberect, slender, 4" [10 cm] long, inflorescence with a bract near the base and a thin, tubular floral bract.
