Common Name The Bolivian Masdevallia
Flower Size 3/4" wide [2 cm]
Found in Bolivia near La Paz at elevations around 2800 meters as a miniature to small sized, cold growing epiphyte on mossy tree trunks with erect, slender, blackish ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 3 tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical-obovate, subacute to obtuse leaf that is cuneate below into the slender petiole and blooms on a erect, slender, 2 2/5 " to 4 2/5" [6 to 11 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence arising from low on the ramicaul and with a bract near the base and a thin, tubular floral bract and holding the flower well above the leaf.
