Common Name The Carpish Mountain Masdevallia [Mountain range in central Peru]

Flower Size 1.2" [3 cm]

Found in Huanaco department of Peru in the Carpish mountains at elevations around 2700 meters as a small sized, cold growing, caespitose epiphyte with erect, blackish, slender ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 3 loose tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical, acute, narrowly cuneate below into the elongate, blackish petiolate base leaf that blooms in the summer on an erect, slender, 2.4 to 4" [6 to 10 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence arising from the middle of the ramicaul with a tubular floral bract.
