Found in Peru at elevations around 2300 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cold growing epiphyte with slender, erect, blackish ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to close 3 tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical, obtuse, cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the fall on a slender, more or less horizontal, flower face down, 1.2 to 1.4" [3 to 3.5 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence arising from low on the ramicaul with a bract near the base and a tubular floral bract
