Common Name The Wide Bellied Masdevallia
Flower Size .8" [2 cm]
Found in the Cordillera del Condor in Ecuador and Peru at elevations of 1500 to 1650 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool growing epiphyte with erect, slender, blackish ramicauls enveloped by 2 to 3 loose, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical, subacute, cuneate belwo in to the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the winter on a slender, erect to suberect, .4 to .7" [1 to 1.8 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence arising from low on the ramicaul with a bract near the base and a tubular floral bract.
