Common Name Gerhard's Masdevallia [Gerhard Vierling German Orchid enthusiast and cultivator of species current]

Flower Size 2" [5 cm]

Found in Norte de Santander department of Colombia without exact locality as a miniature sized epiphyte with erect, stout ramicuals enveloped by 2 to 3 loose, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical, obtuse, cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the later summer on a slender, erect to suberect, 4 to 4.4" [10 to 11 cm] long, single flowered inflorecence with a bract above the base and arising from low on the ramicaul.

Distinguished by the white, rose suffused flower, and a peculiar, small, conical mentum at the junction between the lateral sepals and the concave lip is also unique.
