Found in Norte de Santander department of Colombia in subparamo forests at elevations of 2600 to 3250 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cold growing epiphyte with erect, slender, blackish ramicauls enveloped by 2 to 3 thin, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, narrowly elliptical-obovate, acute to subacute, narrowly cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring and fall on a slender, erect, 1.6 to 2.6" [4 to 6.5 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence arising from low on the ramicaul with a bract above the base.
