Found in Junin department of Peru on steep grassy and rocky slopes on mossy trunks and branches at elevations of 2600 to 2800 meters as a small sized, cold growing terrestrial with erect, slender ramicauls enveloped basally by 3 to 4 tubular sheaths and carrying a single, erect, coriaceous, basally conduplicate, cuneate, elliptic to ovate, obtuse to acute, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring on an erect, terete, peduncle 6" [15 cm] long, provided with a tubular bract below the middle, single flowered inflorescence with an adpressed tubular, shorter than the pedicel floral bract and carrying campanulate, showy flowers.
