Found in Zamora Chinchipe province of Ecuador without locational data as a miniature sized, caespitose epiphyte with erect ramicauls enveloped by 1 to 2, basal, tubular sheaths and carrying an erect, coriaceous, narrwoly elliptical, acute, gradually narrowing below into an ill defined petiolate base leaf that blooms in the earlier fall on an erect, arising from low on a ramicaul, triquetrous, peduncle slender, to 8" [20 cm] long, congested, more or less fascicled raceme, successively single, few flowered inflorecence with membraneous, shorter to as long as the pedicel floral bracts and carrying flowers with purple sepals that ae white at the apices, white petals and a white suffused with purple towards the tip lip.

"Among the species of SUBGENUS Polyantha SECTION Alaticaules SUBSECTION Alaticaules [Krzl.] Luer 1986 that are characterized by a triquetrous peduncle, a labellum divided near the middle by marginal folds, and petals with a marginal callus, this species is distinguished by a fleshy, purple flower with thick sepaline tails, the tail of the acute dorsal sepal thrice longer than the blade, and the tails of obtuse lateral sepals less than four millimeters long, about a fifth the length of the synsepal."
