Common Name or Meaning The Burr Bearing Masdevallia [refers to the prickly apex of the lip]

Found in Ecuador around 1200 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool growing epiphyte with erect, stout ramicauls enveloped by 2 to 3, loose tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, narrowly oblong, obtuse, cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring on a an erect, stout, .4" [1 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence arising from low on the ramicaul with a bract at the base.
