Found in Norte de Santander department of Colombia in subparamo forests on mossy tree trunks at elevations of 2600 to 3100 meters as a miniature sized, cold growing epiphyte with erect, stout ramicauls envelops basal,y by 2 to 3, loose, tubular sheaths and carryuing a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, more or less mottled with purple, elliptical, subacute to obtuse, cuneate below into the purple mottled petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring on a relatively stout, ascending to descending [1 to 2 cm] long, single flowered inflroescence arising from low on the ramicaul with a bract at the base and a lightly spotted with purple, tubular floral bract
