Common Name The Cock's Comb Masdevallia [refers to the callus at the tip of the lip]

Found in Amazonas department of Peru without locality as a mini-miniature sized epiphyte with erect, stout ramicuals enveloped by 2 to 3 tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical-obovate, obtuse to rounded, cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the fall on a slender, suberect, 2.8" [7 cm] long, single flowered inflorecence with a bract below the middle and arising from low on the ramicaul with a tubular floral bract.
