Flower Size 1 1/8" [3 cm]
Found in The federal district, Aragua, Carabobo, Lara and Zulia states of Venezuela, Colombia and Peru at elevations of 1100 to 2000 meters as a miniature to small sized, cool growing, epiphytic species from with stout, erect ramicauls enveloped by 2 to 3 tubular sheaths carrying a single, apical, erect, thickly coriaceous, elliptical to narrowly elliptical, subacute to obtuse leaf that is narrowly cuneate below into the indistinct petiolate base that blooms in the later spring, summer and fall on an erect, arising from low on the ramicaul, congested, successively several single flowered, 8" [20 cm] long, triquetrous inflorescence with thin, imbricating, shorter than the pedicel floral bracts and holding the single flower well above the leaf.
The unique factors for this species are the sequentially flowering inflorescence, the lateral sepals that are connate with each other for a longer distance than the dorsal sepal and the papillose labellum.
