Flower Size 2.4" [6 cm]
Found in Morona-Santiago province of Ecuador at elevations around 1500 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool growing, caespitose epiphyte with slender, erect, ramicauls enveloped by 2 to 3, loose, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical, subacute, cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the later spring on a slender, arising from low on the ramicaul with a bract near the base, erect, 4.2" [11 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence with a tubular, shorter than the pedicel floral bract.
"Similar to M medinae but differs in the larger habit, larger yellow flower minutely dotted with purple within and with longer tails. The dorsal sepal is not as deeply concave as in M medinae and the apices of the lateral sepals are obiquely short-acuminate instead of rounded." Luer 2006
