Found in Bolivia on mossy trees in cloud forests at elevations of 2600 to 3100 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cold growing epiphyte with blackish, erect, slender ramicauls enveloped by 2 to 3 close, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical, acute, gradually narrowing below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the summer on slender, erect, 1.6 to 2.6" [4 to 6.5 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence arising from low on the ramicaul with a bract below the middle and a tubular floral bract and carrying a glabrous flower
