Common Name or Meaning The Painted Masdevallia

Flower Size 1.2" [3 cm]

Found in southeastern Ecuador and northern Peru in cold cloud forestsat elevations around 2700 to 3200 meters as a miniature sized, cold growing epiphyte with blackish, slender, erect, ramicaul enveloped by 2 to 3loose, tubular sheaths carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical, subacute, gradually narrowing below into the cuneate, slender, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the fall on often 2 to 4, erect, slender, 2 to 4" [5 to 10 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence arising from high on the ramicaul.
