"Characterized by a stout peduncle that exceeds the leaf. The flowers are produced successively in a very short, congested raceme with the pedicel no longer than the floral bract. Although the flower superficially resembles M bicolor the sepals are rigid and deeply connate into an obovoid flower. The tails of the lateral sepals are short, thick and directed forward. The petals are narrowly ovate and the lip is trilobulate at the apex." Luer 2005
