Common Name Schmidt-Mumm's Masdevallia [German Colombian Orchid Enthusiast 20th cen]

Found in Colombia in cloud forests at elevations of 1800 to 2600 meters as a miniature sized, cool to cold growing, epiphytic species discovered in 1976 and is from with slender, erect ramicauls enveloped basally by 2 to 3 tubular sheaths carrying a single, apical, erect, coriaceous, elliptical, acute to subacute leaf that gradually narrows below into the petiole and blooms in the fall on a slender, suberect, 3 1/5" to 4 2/5" [8 to 11 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence arising from low on the ramicaul with a bract below the middle and a tubular floral bract that has a solitary flower nestled amidst the leaves.
The flowers are distinguished by the long slender, crossed tails of the lateral sepals as well as the forward and downward curved, dorsal sepal tail.
